I can’t bite my tongue any longer. Fat jabs. How is it that the government can find a whole lotta brass to dole out fat-busting drugs such as Mounjaro to the overweight and obese. Let me say first of all that some overweight folks might have a medical issue that leads to that. That’s understandable. Therefore, they are not the people I am talking about. I am talking about those that have never been acquainted with that thing called exercise. And by exercise, I mean, firstly, exercising some will-power.
What’s wrong with controlling what you eat and when you eat? What’s wrong with taking a little exercise? Walk around the block? Take the stairs? No need for any of that. Why engage effort and shift your blooming arse (as per Eliza Doolittle) when you have a generous benevolent national health service who will fix your sizable problem for you faster than you can ask. And who is going to pay for that? The taxpayers, of course!
My problem with this is that there are so many medical conditions and diseases that are not being treated by the NHS, and patients and sufferers are left to languish or even die. Take Alzheimer and dementia, for instance. They are the leading causes of death. And for those living with and caring for someone who suffers from either, it is heartbreaking. But there is very little help and certainly no chance of a cure. To make matters worse, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence – NICE – deny NHS patients drugs that would slow the underlying cause of dementia. This is deeply disappointing, says Alzheimer Research UK – and so say all of us.
So, the government can’t, won’t give Alzheimer’s sufferers their much-needed medication. There was nothing they did or were not supposed to do to bring this on. Sufferers developed this disease through no fault of their own, yet the government seem quite happy to dole out the medication to those who, to a large extent, contributed to their own gargantuan troubles. Seems like gluttony and irresponsibility is being rewarded, and it should not be. And certainly not by taxpayers. Brass-necked! How about this for an idea, even a money-saving idea: try not being overweight in the first place; that is, eat less and move more and there won’t be a need for medical intervention later.
