Just over two years ago (January 2023), I wrote a piece about there being need for ‘women-only’ spaces. At the time, I felt I was putting my head above a parapet to advocate for this. In that, the trend was that a man, any man, could show up at a ‘women-only’ space and say that he is entitled to be treated as a woman, and be entitled to the benefits of being a woman, just because he says he is one. In other words, a man (with a penis) is quite entitled to self-identify as a woman, as and when he chooses.
My issue with that was the safety of girls and particularly vulnerable women. The cause was not helped when we have a Prime Minister, a former head of the Crown Prosecution Service, who saw nothing wrong with that and, over the past couple of years, spouted such nonsense that it was ‘not right’ to claim only women have a cervix and that ‘99.9 percent of women haven’t got a penis’. As there are about four billion people of the female sex in the world, that would mean that about four million of them are knocking about with penises. By heck, this learned Prime Minister, when asked on several occasions what a woman is, had very little idea, although I believe he is married to one!
And it is this kind of ignorant and self-serving propaganda that created a situation that was harmful to the female sex as well as those who transitioned from one biological sex to the other.
Now, Prime Minister Keir Starmer has had his cards marked. By way of the highest court in the land – the Supreme Court. Being a man of the law himself, and so desperately trying to appease the trans lobby, he really couldn’t argue with their ruling of what constitutes a woman. The Supreme Court ruled that the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex. Which has always been the case under law: the Equality Act 2010. And trans rights were always protected under this same law.
By the way, Prime Minister Starmer was heard to say how thankful he is for the Supreme Court’s decision, which has given much-needed clarity. He, a man of the law, needed the Supreme Court to tell him what a woman is. Incredible! But most importantly, following the Supreme Court’s decision, women-only spaces will be protected and to hell with this biological fiction. Once and for all!
